Izzy the Frog in LuminaLand

  1. (2001)AMBIENT Surreal single-movement sound-design-work that was originally created for the pre-show music in a show called “Terra Lumina”. I recorded the sounds of the show’s set being built, the quarry sounds all around, an wonderful frogs chirping away. I created this work by doing a live 8-channel performance/mix, so you are actually hearing a live performance. Every night before the show, they had to “fog” the area because of the unbearable mosquitos and gnats. The frogs would then gorge themselves on these easy treats, and then, I’m convinced, hallucinate during the show. They would often sing loudly during various moments with lights, lasers, and sound. So, this is an homage to those wonderful bug-juice-addicted frogs, and my favorite frog, Izzy. I created a frog-myth, and Izzy, for this music which became its own world. [ca 45’]
